This quaint fishing village
fronting the banks of the Calabash River where it joins the Intracoastal Waterway is the last town on the coast in the state of North Carolina. Because of the abundance of fresh seafood, Calabash has been famous for its "Calabash" style seafood restaurants for many years. It is distinctively known as the “Seafood Capital of the World”. There are still four of the original restaurants along the picturesque waterfront with absolutely beautiful waterway views. The avid fisherman can take a charter boat for a day to go deep sea fishing or, if you'd rather, there are sight-seeing boats available also. A quick stroll from the waterfront, you will find yourself on the main street of this small town, with more fabulous restaurants, gift stores, shopping and even miniature golf.
Calabash is centrally located to enjoy a huge variety of fun activities in both North Carolina and South Carolina's Grand Strand. Within 5 minutes of the main drag in Calabash there are an abundance of golf courses including Carolina Shores, Sea Trail, Sandpiper Bay, Ocean Ridge, Crow Creek, The Thistle, Oyster Bay, Meadowlands and many others. For the beach lovers, Sunset Beach, NC is a short 5 mile drive to the warm and calm, shallow waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Here you will find several miles of a beautiful, pristine beach to delight you and your entire family.
Calabash is also included in the greater Grand Strand area of Myrtle Beach, SC. All the sights and entertainment it has to offer are literally a 15 to 30 minute drive to whatever your heart desires for the day.
