Whether you’re selling a home or buying one, springtime is when the Holden Beach real estate market comes alive. Homebuyers appear to come out of hibernation and start their search in earnest. Today’s buyers are more savvy than ever when it comes to knowing what they need vs. what they want as well as how much they are willing to pay for those things.
You have one chance to make a good impression. That phrase could have been coined by someone in the real estate market. For those with a home they’re preparing to sell, get it in shape before it’s listed. The most eager buyers are those that will come buy when it first hits the market and if your home isn’t “ready for prime time” you might not get another chance.
What’s inside? Once the landscaping has been mellowed out around your home it’s time to focus on the interior. You know those loud colors that you just love? They have to go. Buyers want to see neutral shades of white and beige and they want to see it when they’re looking. Don’t take the stance that they can paint it themselves.
Scrub, scrub, scrub. Wash your front door to get all the finger prints off. Take a hose or power washer and spray off the exterior of your home to get the street grime off of it. Take the time to clean all the windows inside and out. If it’s not a project you want to tackle then call one of the window cleaning businesses in the area. They not only clean windows and exteriors of homes but also can power wash your walkways, driveway, patios and porches.
Remove the clutter and excess from your home. You may think you hear this too much but that’s because it’s true. Homebuyers don’t want to see that you’ve outgrown your house and that’s exactly what packed closets say to them. Remove at least half of what’s in all of your closets to show their spaciousness. Brighten up those closets with a coat of bright white paint and a light bulb. These things all add up to whether those looking like your house or have serious doubts.
While the majority of buyers will start their search online, once they call us at ReMax at the Beach, they’re ready to visit some properties. As soon as a home is listed with us property photos are taken and descriptions are written. Be sure your home is ready to go as soon as it goes on the market.
